I purchased these as a gift for my daughter’s 9th birthday. I tried buying kids earrings, but purls looked microscopic. The backing is silicon and seems to be very secure . Purl is a great size. She has sensitive ears and has reaction unless it is 14k or 18k gold. Hope these will not give her irritation. I am sure she will like them.

While at school the pearl broke off of the earring, two teachers and the school nurse all tried to get it out but the earring ended up lodged within her ear lobe and the rubber backs further complicated the situation. The front part of the metal got stuck in the flesh of her lobe when the pearl fell out. We thought they would have to surgically remove it, but we took her to the doctor and they got the pediatrician with 30 years experience to remove it from her now extremely infected lobe. This was such a traumatic experience, these are cheap and dangerous!!

Very beautiful earrings, I love the shape of the pearl! Unfortunately, that earring back is very loose, so they fall off easily once you were a headband or a hat.I lost mine just yesterday while putting on an headband and was heartbroken because I couldn’t find it anymore!I would still recommend them but just be aware!

I ordered the 8.5/9mm. They seemed small and when I measured, they were barely 8mm. I considered returning them but after having them on for a few hours I decided to keep them because:They rest beautifully and flat on my ears and they are not irritated (which is usually the case with low quality plated materials).
